Cisco is the industry leader in delivering power over Ethernet to reduce cost of power bill, power management and total cost of ownership. Following industry standard POE (IEEE802.3af) and POEP (IEEE802.3at), Cisco doubles the power supplied over Ethernet to 60W via UPOE (Universal Power Over Ethernet) on Catalyst 4500E Series Switches and line cards. As part of the UPOE solution, Cisco provides a power splitter that takes an UPOE input and split it into one Ethernet output and one DC power line output. With this power splitter, Catalyst 4500E Series Switches can power any device that is within 12V range. This plug and play UPOE solution provide a wide range of power services and greatly reduce the cost of the power used in the buildings and offices.
